I am trying to use Automator or Apple script to make it easier for our users by creating an app that will enter their userID and password when they open the Mac client. It appears that the IDS Client is not scriptable. Do you have any suggestions?

There are good alternatives for Automator that provide scripting support, but they're all Windows based. There are also a few alternatives for Apple Mac OS X, but they don't have the necessary functions to achieve what you want. You will actually need to work with Automator in a way or another because it's the only way you could apply scriptable operations to IDS Client.
